What must people with acne prone skin consume for clearer skin?

For me, it%26#039;s not so much about what I consume, but what products I apply to my skin.

I use the Clear Skin Regimen at http://www.acne.org. It%26#039;s a non-profit (so it%26#039;s free), the guy who created used to suffer from pimples himself. The system works wonders on my face, and its helped countless other people. The best part is that you don%26#039;t have to order or buy any expensive treatments, everything you need for the Regimen can be found at your local drugstore. Find out more at the website.

In general, for clear skin it helps if you: don%26#039;t touch/pick at your skin, drink lots of water, wash your hair frequently, change your pillowcases, exercise, wear little make-up (or if needed, hypo-allergenic makeup), and minimize stress.|||Reduce or eliminate sugars, caffeine, nicotine, hydrogenated oils, processed wheats, and dairy. Drink plenty of water, fresh food -- fruits and vegetables. Laugh, and have fun with life. I%26#039;ve enclosed a few sites to get you started. ;)|||try here for acne tips|||Most people think a bad diet, lots of sugar, and greasy food cause acne. I%26#039;ve heard acne is something set up genetically. There are no foods that can help clear up the skin. Water of course will help keep you healthier, but I don%26#039;t think it has an effect on break-outs. Talk to your doctor about some solutions. Acutain (I think that%26#039;s how you spell it), is a very popular choice of medicine to help clear up and prevent acne. However, any time you use medication for treatment, there could be side effects. Your doctor can help you pick the best treatment for your skin type.|||lots of water!|||Some say a healthier diet in general helps clear acne, but if your acne%26#039;s really bad, see a dermatologist.|||Consume as in eat? Drink plenty of water. Stay away from fatty, greasy and spicy foods.

As far as products for your skin: try Proactiv or Clinique%26#039;s 3 Step System.

Can anybody recommend a good moisturiser for acne prone skin?

I would say Dermalogica have some of the BEST products around. They cater for all different skin types and conditions. I use a Dermalogica oil control moisturiser and find it great.

Dermalogica don%26#039;t sell over the counter, you have to go to a salon and no therapist should sell the products without a free consultation (this is to meet the individual needs of the client). They have a special consultaion technique called %26quot;face mapping%26quot; to get the best results possible!|||Try using something natural. I use Manuka honey! It is found in some supermarkets like Tescos and most health shops. Just spread it over the area, you can add some warm water to make it more runny. It is very medicinal, provides a barrier and is anti-bacterial. Great to eat or have in drinks as well. I find spots clear much quicker if I use this honey. Many websites where you can find information, just google it.|||Try Oil Control Lotion by Dermalogica...their products are excellent. They also do a skin kit for acne prone skin

One of which was their moisturizer (yellow pump bottle) and then got a free gift that included an even better moisturizer (Moisture Surge). All three I%26#039;ve tried works, but I like CLINIQUE better. With using a good moisturizer, be sure to get a good cleanser as well.|||www.lizearle.co.uk

What's the best makeup for acne prone skin?

I would like my skin to look glowing and fresh. but I break out easily. I have combination skin. very oily around the T-zone. I%26#039;ve found that powder highlights the hairs on my face. but i would like it to look glowing and natural. I thought i tried it one once before, but I really tried on this product called AlisonRaffaele which is also a mineral make up, now that one is great and less$. Just stick it easy and get covergirl trublend. It covers fairly well and doesnt make a whole in your purse.|||fact: bare minerals is the number one mineral makeup in the world.

my mom uses it and now she looks more natural.she says that when she uses it, she can%26#039;t feel anything, meaning, it%26#039;s very light and doesn%26#039;t clog your pores.

you can buy it at bare escentuals or sephora or their website which are:|||Bare minerals. I had the exact same problems as you, and after using it for awhile, my face doesn%26#039;t look as bad as it used to be. My acne even cleared up a little bit. Just don%26#039;t go overboard on it.

If you decide to get it, use the mineral veil under the foundation to get rid of the oil even more.

(Ah ha ha. The irony...I just contradicted the post above me.)|||It%26#039;s really hard to look glowing instead of greasy when it comes to oily skin. I just started using Sephora%26#039;s mineral makeup and it really works! It doesn%26#039;t clog my pores and looks natural. I%26#039;m sure any mineral makeup would work just as well. But i love pure makeup!

Has anyone tried bare minerals make-up? How is it for acne prone skin?

Bare Minerals (aka Bare Escentuals) is THE ONLY foundation / cover-up I will use on my face. I have very oily skin, and am therefore prone to breakouts, and I am actually able to fall asleep still wearing this make-up and wake up the next day problem-free. The claims they make about the product actually contributing to the health of your skin, in my estimation, are correct. There are no preservatives, talc, etc. that are damaging and comedogenic (pore-clogging). The finished look is very clean, not cakey or artificial. The only negative I can see is that the make-up line is a little pricey ($25 for the foundation, $22 for the application brush on sephora.com), but a little goes a long way, and I find that it lasts me a good long time. If you%26#039;re just starting out with this line, try one of their starter kits. For $60, you get 2 shades of foundation, a Mineral Veil, the Warmth bronzer, 3 different brushes, and some other free stuff. It%26#039;s a great introduction to Bare Minerals, and it%26#039;s the kit that got me hooked. Hope this helps!|||I felt that bare minerals make-up does not cover up much...so what%26#039;s the point?

Shiseido Pureness line is my personal fave for acne prone skin.|||There are other mineral makeups besides BE, too. Google %26quot;mineral makeup.%26quot; BE has a mineral that makes your face shiny. bizmuth oxide or something. Sephora (San Francisco) said that Bare Minerals makeup %26quot;greys%26quot; on very light complected African American women while brown skinned and darker females get a %26quot;orangey%26quot; color after wearing it. This is true especially if you have oily skin. Maybe its the oil or something. BECCA is an awesome line from Australia for women of color and Caucasian women also. I have the stick foundation, bronzing powder, eye make-up, and check colors and it performs very WELL! BECCA is available @ Sephora also. Superior line! Excellent!

I prefer the high end brands, and I%26#039;m using some of my Xmas money to splurge on the Perfect foundation and concealer for my oily, fair skin. What is the best minerals foundation for acne prone skin?

If you have oily and acne skin, you should use mineral based makeups since they are light, gentle on the skin, won%26#039;t clog pores. Also, the minerals have anti-aging and sun protection properties that are good for the skin. Most skin care experts and dermatologists recommend to use mineral makeups.

Make up for oily acne prone skin?

I need new makeup.... but nothing seems to work for me. I have pretty oily skin, especially as the day goes on so i usually look nice in the morning but by the end of the day all my makeup is rubbed off. I also get acne but mainly have ance spots from old zits. I need a good foundation to cover it up and i was wondering what would work best for me, maybe cream powder? im not sure though.

oh and p.s. i%26#039;ve tried bare minerals...not a fan.|||Sarah

You first need to address this issue with oily skin. I recommend and use Coonobabe

For the oily skin use either their Kepaya (papaya cleanser) or Pepino (cucumber based) cleanser followed by either their Savila toner, Seng %26amp; Sang toner. After washing with cleanser, I pat dry with clean towel, then apply toner and allow to air dry. I repeat this on hot/humid days, but it%26#039;s worth it since my skin is clean to the touch now. Suggest you stay away from acne cleansers since those tend to be as harsh as hand soap. Every time I%26#039;ve used them my skin would get bone dry, flaky, and itchy. Strangely, my skin would start to over produce oil, and get breakouts with super dry skin. So I don%26#039;t use those anymore.

For foundation suggest you try their Savila base, then lightly top it off with their Happy Ending powder. Try to avoid putting on blush, just stick to lipstick/gloss, eyeshadow and some light foundation applications. Hope this helps.

Google Coonobabe

btw - they ship 4 free, made in USA, do not test on animals - a must for me.|||stop wearing makeup.

thats why you have the acne that you have and oily skin because by using cover up or foundation like every day your clogging your pores so just stop using that and just use cream. like when you wake up in the morning put cream on your face and THATS IT! if you wanna put like eyeliner or mascara or eyeshadow on then go ahead but dont put cover up or foundation.

Everydayminerals.com has some good stuff. and the samples are free too. Good luck

oops I don%26#039;t live in singapore. I have no idea|||You probably need to change your diet to be more alkaline. Meaning your body might be too acidic and the excess acid or toxins are secreting out of your skin. An alkalizing diet consists of more green leafy vegetables and no meat, fast or junk foods. Below is a list of alkalizing foods.

This product will help too.

Kandesn Skin Care and Cosmetics - Kandesn Skin Care and Cosmetics - no animal products, by-products, or petroleum products such as mineral oil. Kandesn products are uniquely formulated with herbs, emollients, plant extracts and essential oils. Only Sunrider uses plant derived Squalane, a natural component also found in human skin with antioxidant and immune-stimulating properties. Kandesn%26#039;s Squalane is from extra virgin olive oil.

Looking younger is not just a matter of what we eat through our mouths, but also what we %26quot;eat%26quot; through our skin. Our skin is the largest organ of the human body, which means it absorbs nutrition and eliminates waste and toxins. Just like %26quot;junk food%26quot; can bring degeneration to cells, what we put on our skin can help OR hinder the skin%26#039;s regeneration. Sunrider%26#039;s Kandesn herbal skin care products will regenerate deeply BELOW the skin%26#039;s surface. Taking care of our skin is not just a %26quot;vanity%26quot; issue; it%26#039;s vital to good health! Sunrider takes extremely meticulous care to create Kandesn products of the highest quality, using only the most natural regenerative ingredients in all their skin care and cosmetics.

Why Choose Kandesn?

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?

Kandesn is the only skin care and cosmetic line that exactly matches the pH of your skin (pH matched, not just pH balanced-that is still too alkaline for the skin). Good bacteria and the body%26#039;s protective acidic mantle on the surface of the skin is destroyed and stripped by using too-alkaline soaps. Even expensive name-brand soaps and %26quot;natural%26quot; herbal soaps register high alkalinity on the pH scale. This leaves the skin open to harmful bacteria (causing skin problems) as well as drying it out (leading to wrinkling, and the necessity for more lotions and creams), and, with oily skin, an increased production of oil.

Kandesn is the only skin care and cosmetic line that features squalane in all its creams, lotions, and cosmetics. Squalane is the oil closest to our skin and is processed from pure, extra-virgin olive oil. Squalane nourishes the skin and is the only oil that mixes smoothly with water, is quickly absorbed, and allows the skin to breathe freely. Squalane costs $100 per pound versus mineral oil (usually in leading skin care brands) costing only five cents per pound.

Kandesn is the only skin care and cosmetic line that has a properly balanced oil\water ratio to regenerate the skin resulting in %26quot;one skin care program%26quot; for all skin types. Just like our regenerative Sunrider foods, Kandesn skin care and cosmetics bring the skin into balance and harmony.

Kandesn DOES NOT USE-lanolin, mineral oil, paraffin, petroleum by-products, recycled restaurant grease, or animal by-products from rendering plants (dead animals) as do most cosmetic companies. The molecules of these common ingredients are too large to be absorbed by human skin and can be toxic. Used as moisturizers, they cause clogged pores, blackheads, and poor respiration. Skin needs to breathe.

Kandesn is very concentrated-only small dabs are really needed. With all Kandesn products, a little goes a VERY, VERY long way. Sunrider is the only food company that produces their own entire line of skin care and cosmetics %26quot;under the same roof%26quot; as the foods, with the same pharmaceutical standards.

Although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system.|||Leave the foundation on you house... just go with very light makeup, better for your skin, and better looking on you. Trust me, guys do not like thick gunk on your face.

What is the best foundation EVER? ( those with dry acne prone skin)?

my skin is dry and flaky...and prone to spots.

so i%26#039;m looking for a foundation that is not heavy(doesn%26#039;t make me break out) but covers fully without making my flaky skin look even more dry!

no problem with money just something that covers the damn spots as best as possible :]|||lancome, the one for dry skin, ive forgot the name of it, my mum n my mate swear by it! i dont use it as i have oily skin, so i use adaptive by lancome, but i swear by that! i luv lancome, i think its great!|||I have gotten the best coverage with kms mineral essentials as it evens out my uneven skin tone. It is not heavy at all. You hardly know you are even wearing it. I have dry skin too so I understand your frustration. As long as I use a moisturizer before putting on my makeup, I am good to go.

Good luck in whatever you choose. :)|||You may want to lay off of the makeup for a while and start a nightly moisturizer to make your skin healthy then look for hypoallergenic makeup that suits your taste|||I have found that Neutrogena Clear Skin foundation works well. It is a liquid foundation that goes on lightly and has acne medicine in it. I have really dry skin, but I have never noticed it making the dryness stand out.|||I have had the best experience with kms minerals. My skin is dry especiallly in the winter but you would never know it. My skin is sensitive and this brand has been the perfect choice for me.|||Try the MAC Studiofix line. It is not heavy, it%26#039;s a blend of powder and foundation, so it goes on light. It has great coverage and hides all imperfections. I love it because I don%26#039;t have to put on a heavy foundation then powder. It%26#039;s all together. It lasts throughout the day and you won%26#039;t break out.|||When it comes to skin care, I would give Clinique my life.

It sounds to me you need a moisturising, oil free foundation.

I myself use Clinique superbalanced foundation.

What%26#039;s more if you buy it at a Cllinique counter you can get colour matched so it fits your skin perfectly. You can almost gaurentee, too, that with it being Clinique you%26#039;ll get a couple free samples too!

Best of luck!|||I have dry/sensitive skin that is very prone to breaking out.

Before anything else, I highly recommend using a very good moisturizer that will penetrate deep into your skin. I prefer using emu oil, since it contains only emu oil...I don%26#039;t get any irritations, the emu oil totally absorbs deep into my skin, the dryness has almost gone away %26amp; best of all, it also helps heal the acne. I get my emu oil from either Lure Beauty or Lumiere Mineral Cosmetics. You should moisturize both morning and night. Emu oil lasts a very long time too...all you need is about 3 little drops %26amp; this you apply after washing your face %26amp; while it%26#039;s still wet.

Secondly, I recommend using a very soft microfiber cloth. Jane Iredale %26amp; Aquis make very good ones. The microfiber cloth will very gently exfoliate your skin, removing dead, flakey and dry skin, as well as dirt, oil and makeup. This is safe enough to use everyday. Stay away from microdermabraision...it%26#039;s too rough and not good for everyday. 1-2 times a month, you can use a %26quot;sugar scrub%26quot; by mixing C%26amp;H sugar %26amp; local raw honey...about 50:50 ratio (the mixture should be thick and slightly grainy) %26amp; use this to gently exfoliate your skin. Honey is a wonderful natural antioxidant %26amp; antibacterial. Once a week you can also use straight local raw honey as a mask. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. It leaves skin very refreshed and radiant. =) For daily washing, use the most gentle cleanser possible. Two of my favorite cleansers are Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk and Camellia Rose Honey Green Tea Shea Soap.

Lastly, I recommend using Mineral Makeup. My favorite brand (out of roughly 30 I%26#039;ve tried) is Lumiere Mineral Cosmetics. They don%26#039;t use any bismuth oxychloride, which is known to be an irritant to many. You won%26#039;t find kaolin caly or other clays in their cosmetics either...this is a bad ingredient for dry skin types to wear longer than in just a mask. Lumiere doesn%26#039;t use high levels of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide either...these have also been found to be drying or cause irritations to some people, when in high amounts. Also, with breakouts, stay away from mineral oil and an ingredient called Octyl Palmitate..these are known to clog pores and irritate acne. I get very dry/irrtated with bismuth oxychloride, kaolin clay or any clays, high amounts of titanium dioxide, preservatives (EDTA, Diazolidinyl Urea %26amp; Urea (female horse urine), Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben), talc, and even zea mays...which are found in almost all traditional cosmetics and in several mineral cosmetic brands. Lumiere doesn%26#039;t use any of these ingredients. =)

The foundations I%26#039;d recommend for your skin type would be...

Flawless -for a matte, but not flat finish %26amp; looks like your skin but better...coverage is a very easy light-medium to buildable heavy. This is very light weight, but coverage is amazing...a lot better than BE. You%26#039;d use 1/3rd the amount of minerals that you would if you were using i.d. Bare Escentials. Flawless does what it%26#039;s named after...it gives a flawless look, helps soften the look of pores and blemishes. This is my everyday choice of foundations.

Luminesse - for a slightly glowy/radiant finish without the %26quot;tin man%26quot; look...coverage is a very easy light to buildable medium. This foundation does an awesome job at softening up the look of pores and fine lines too. This is my choice of foundation when my skin just looks dull. Both foundations, I%26#039;d recommend applying dry with a synthetic kabuki, long handled kabuki or flat top buffer from Lumiere...they are the best brushes for applying foundation.

The other foundation I%26#039;d recommend of Lumiere%26#039;s is Cashmere -applied %26quot;wet%26quot; with a Duo fiber optic brush (replicated after the MAC 187) by spritzing your brush and your palm of hand with a hydrating mist (Juice Beauty is awesome or use an even more natural hydrating mist -Garden of Wisdom is a great place too) and then add a very small amount of Cashmere (about a pinch) and blend with brush...texture should be very thin, then apply to face - this will create a very soft, airbrushed finish...coverage is like that you%26#039;d get from a heavy foundation, but it%26#039;s actually quite thin, very light and looks very natural. This is my choice for %26quot;bad skin days%26quot;...totally softens everything up!

For days when you need a concealer, Lumiere%26#039;s Healing Concealer is the best! It helps heal blemishes naturally as it covers them.

When you need a little extra help, or want things smoothed out even more, I highly recommend liquid primer by both Lumiere %26amp; Camellia Rose. They are the best %26amp; will fill in pores beautifully, without drying out your skin! *if you are sensitive to silicones, you will want to avoid these products.

I think you%26#039;d be very pleased with Lumiere. Everything they carry is top notch. The only items I don%26#039;t find to be the best of the best are the few natural hair cosmetic brushes they carry. Everything else is awesome.

For a finishing powder/veil, I%26#039;d recommend Veena Silk Veil. It%26#039;s awesome! I generally hate finishing powders and veils, but the VSV is superb, doesn%26#039;t feel heavy at all and most importantly it doesn%26#039;t dry my skin out. Their Perlfecting Powder is also quite nice...it softens the finished look...helping soften up pores and fine lines. All of the All Over Colors, Blush, Radiances and Bronzers are very nice. The eyeshadows are almost overwhelming...sooo many to choose from! Gorgeous!

Whatever products you choose, natural is the best way to go. Good luck! =D|||Haha, I actually meant to answer your question when I ended up answering someone%26#039;s bare minerals question instead...oh well. Here was my answer to their question.

Right now I use ERA%26#039;s spray on foundation. I don%26#039;t have dry skin as much anymore, but being that it%26#039;s winter...my face is dry, but this foundation is perfect for dry, acne prone skin.

I%26#039;ve been using it for a few months now. But it covers EVERYTHING (without the need of conealer)...feels nice on the face, and doesn%26#039;t make my skin look dry at all (just nice, and dewy). On top of all that let me show you one of the benefits they have listed on their website:

ERA庐 FACE not only looks good on the skin, but IS good for the skin. Its unique formulation provides vital moisture without clogging pores. Botanicals, Aloe Vera and Chamomile soothe and promote healing by allowing skin to breathe. Antioxidant Vitamins C %26amp; E nourish and fortify skin.

If you do order this, they recommend spraying it onto your face (like airbrushing) but I recommend spraying it onto a make up sponge (you still get airbrushed looking results) and %26quot;stipple%26quot; it onto your skin. You can make it as sheer or as opaque as you%26#039;d like.

It is $55.00, though. But I think it%26#039;s worth it. It lasts a lonnng time.

I don%26#039;t recommend using MAC%26#039;s foundation, though. It makes it worse!|||Whatever you do, don%26#039;t pile on the concealers, the foundations and the powders. That is only going to clog your pores more, giving you more acne, more redness etc.

I%26#039;ve been using Lancome Effacernes concealer. It%26#039;s a waterproof concealer made for under your eyes but it%26#039;s amazing at hiding any redness from previous acne and making your skin look very even. You might also want to try getting a green concealer too as that cancels out redness. When you use concealer DAB it on the spot you are covering and even invest in a tiny concealer brush too and you%26#039;ll see the difference it makes. I would not recommend using foundation because that way it%26#039;s like you are putting a mask of makeup all over your face and your skin won%26#039;t breathe.

I also use Avon%26#039;s ideal shade powder too. I dust a bit over my face when I%26#039;m done with my concealer. It hasn%26#039;t broken me out yet, but I don%26#039;t use it every day either. |||The best make up that I have come across for very good skin coverage is called DermaBlend. I have a scar on my face that I had a terrible time covering up with concealer. I also have a lot of freckles, and couldn%26#039;t find a foundation that would give me good coverage without looking cakey or too orange. Dermablend took care of both of these problems. I got a scar cover, concealer, foundation, and powder, and between those there isn%26#039;t much I can%26#039;t cover up when I need to. I think it would be the same scenario for acne.

For a scrub, mix sea salt (you can buy coarse sea salt at the grocery store in the baking aisle) and mix it with lotion or use it plain in the shower on your dry skin. Coffee grounds work well also. Sugar doesn%26#039;t always work-the sugar granules dissolve in water.|||I make a salt scrub for mature skin, but I have advised customers on just what you are asking.

I think you can make a good homemade face, hand, and foot scrub with grapeseed or sunflower oil (10% jojoba extends the shelf life) along with the sea salt already mentioned. Grapeseed is a light, non-greasy oil that lubricates and does not penetrate so easily.

Just fill your container with sea salt. Use grapeseed with a little jojoba or sunflower (full of vitamin e that also helps preserve) and mix it in with your salt. What's a good facemask that I can make for my acne prone skin?

that will get rid of my acne, and make my skin feel SUPAH SMOOTH lol

thanks so much! %26lt;3|||I%26#039;ve been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it%26#039;s at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I want to switch to mineral make-up, will it make my sensitive acne prone skin break out more?

i was thinking about going to sephora and looking at their bareminerals selection...but are there any other places where I could get it as well? Maybe specific brands that you like?

I cannot wear any drug store brands like maybeline, or cover girl because they make me break out!!|||Mineral make-up is supposed to let your skin breathe more, so it would be less-likely to make your acne prone skin break out. Have you tried using natural make-up, as it isn%26#039;t full of chemicals to affect your sensitive skin. Hope this helps.|||It really depends on YOUR specific skin type. Mineral makeup is designed to not be so heavy on your skin, and to allow your skin more %26quot;breathing%26quot; room. I use Bare Minerals and it doesn%26#039;t break me out at all, and most people I know--it didn%26#039;t breaak them out, and it is the number one bestselling mineral makeup in America, so obviously a lot of other people agree that it is good. If you see any starting signs of acne, then stop using it, and switch back to your old face makeup routine.

Hope I helped!

-Erica|||It depends. You could try switching to mineral make-up but if you start seeing signs of acne than you should switch to what you %26#039;ve had before. What's a good homemade face (for oily acne-prone skin), hand and foot scrub?

for ur face:

add salt in a luke warm water.

it works for me and i have clear skin without using cream:)|||for face :

Vinegar, Lemon Juice and Aloe. Each of these may be used with positive results on acne. The vinegar and lemon juice work to clean your pours. The aloe works to heal skin damage. Studies have shown that treating the sores with aloe will reduce scars and speed healing.

for your hand and foot scrub :

here is a homemade good exfoliator

# You can use any size plastic container or glass jar that you want鈥?for the sake of this tutorial, let鈥檚 just say you used a small Tupperware container.

# Fill half of the container with brown sugar (make sure it鈥檚 grinded well, no chunks).

# Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt (I like sea salt because it鈥檚 chunkier and works great to get rid of dead skin).

# Add 1 tablespoon of honey to the container.

# Pour in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

# Add about 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the mixture and mix well.

# If it has too much of a creamy consistency, then pour in some more brown sugar and mix until you reach the desired texture.

# The end result: The mixture shouldn鈥檛 be too rough but it should still have a grainy texture鈥?(I hope that made sense!) =O)

# Dampen your foot or hands with warm water, lather your face with the brown sugar exfoliator (in gentle, upward-circular motions), rinse skin clean, and pat your skin dry (remember... never rub, always pat). ||| depends on what you want.

olive oil (or other rich oils) and sea salt make a good scrub - for the whole body.

apricot or almond kernel flour with water make also good scrubs, but mainly for the face.

as you have oily skin, you should do your scrub before you go to bed - after scrubbing, the skin produces more sebum for some hours - so, scrubbing in the morning leads to a shiny face that day.

Moisturizer for extremely dry skin, and acne prone skin?

My face gets VERY dry in the winter and cold months, which have already started. And I have a bad acne problem so i can%26#039;t use any oily moisturizers. I have tried Olay Complete, Aveeno, Proactiv moisturizer, and a few Avon ones, and none of those work. They make my skin feel moisturized for about an hour and then it looks all dry and flaky again.

Help?|||Cetaphil - it is specially designed for that.|||hyaluronic acid and panthenol are good.|||be aware that some skin care products can make the skin even dry and can worsen the condition since they do not suit your skin type and does have harsh ingredients that irritate the skin.

What's the best foundation to use on acne prone skin?

A non-oily one. I%26#039;m not sure of a product at the moment but there%26#039;s lot out there. These are better as the oil doesn%26#039;t block up your pores like the sebum excreted from your skin does naturally. The last thing you want to do is add more oil.

I use foundation most days and have terrible spots on my chin. And I%26#039;ve used all manner of things to get rid of them (prescribed and non-prescribed)-but they don%26#039;t bugde and so I have to make the best of what I have.

(I use %26#039;L%26#039;oreal True Match Foundation%26#039; Just looking at their website, its says it has %26#039;non-greasy oils.%26#039; I found it to be one of the best for blemished skin because it adjusts to the different colours of it-hence %26#039;True Match%26#039; , and it really does work.)

From personal experience, foundation doesn%26#039;t seem to affect my skin to much. I use a barrier gel (from Superdrug%26#039;s own line) first, let it dry and then apply foundation. I then apply a darker powder to give a matt finish. And then a lighter one so that I don%26#039;t look to orange from the darker one. I have to do this as I%26#039;m pale-skinned and I would look ridiculous otherwise.

Also, I found that washing my face less often helped. I used to use a gentle exfoliant twice a day and then realised that this was making the problem worse becasue I just kept opening up my pores and irritating them, and so the spots just looked even redder than before. So fianally, I let my self believe what all the webistes and people on TV said-It%26#039;s not dirt that causes spots, it%26#039;s oil and sebum. By washing my face, I was drying it out to much as so my skin made more oil to compensate. Viscious circle!

If I go out for night I don%26#039;t even bother taking my make-up off when I come in-probably the biggest taboo in the make-up world! But to be honest it makes little difference to my skin because I haven%26#039;t washed my skin in a rush to go to bed and so it%26#039;s not inflamed. And the barrier gel is still there between my skin and my make-up. Still, I wouldn%26#039;t reccomend it for anyone else.|||Aloette Ultra Finish

What's a good homemade face (for oily acne-prone skin), hand and foot scrub?

No joke, but I%26#039;ve honestly heard %26#039;urine%26#039; was a good anti-acne face wash. Never had the stomach to try it though.

Can face peeling is helpful in an acne prone skin?

i have acne on my face.I hv used many medicines but theses are of no help and constant breaking out of acne have left red n dark scars on my fair complexion skin which looks really ugly.My face has become permanent red now which itchies a lot.Somebody told me dat face peeling is helpful in removing scars. Can i go for it as still m having acne. Will peeling improve my condition or will it make my situation more complicated..HELP!|||I would ask a dermatologist.

Have any of the medicines you used been prescribed by a dermatologist. If not, see what they can do for you.

My son got an anti-biotic skin wash and a retin-a lotion and they work great for him.

Your skin is unique and those may not be what%26#039;s best for you. But go see a dermatologist and find out. There are also pills that some people can take, if it is determined that they need them.|||for acne, try proactive www.proactiv.com, and for the scars, try Olay microdermabrasion %26amp;peel kit $25.00, at walmart, , with fair skin you can also use eucerin,it is $11.00 for a large bottle,it is also at walmart. eucerin will stop the itching, and also is good for your complexion. hope this helps. you can also get acutane from the doctor, but you will still need these other things, and it has some bad side effects.

What is the best foundation to use for fair skinned people with acne prone skin?

Hands down, bare minerals. Ever see those infomercials? they can be addicting. I actually asked my dermetologist what is best because I want to wear make up but rarely do becuase it just makes me break out! She suggested bare minerals, and I got it for my birthday. Yes, it is expensive (25-30 for a thing of foundation) BUT well worth it. It actually HELPS my acne. I have struggled with acne since I was 10, and I am now 21. I even suggested it to my mom and she loves it. No matter what skin tone, they have something for you. Plus, they all have SPF in it, another great thing for ski. I would become their spokesperson in a second. I got so many compliments on my skin, and honestly had more guys asking me out. It boosted my self-esteem and confidence.|||Laura Mercier makes a great oil free foundation and they have nice colours for fair complexions. I use Blush Ivory. I have VERY fair skin %26amp; it doesn%26#039;t make me look pink or yellow like alot of other brands. Go to the Laura Mercier counter near you or check out there website.

%26gt; I%26#039;m gonna assume you have oily or combo skin, even if you don%26#039;t it is best to choose an oil free foundation if you have acne prone skin!|||use mineral makeup, but make sure it does NOT CONTAIN BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE! (*cough* Bare Minerals *cough*)

Stick with the companies that HONESTLY use all natural ingredients. I%26#039;ve found 3 mineral makeup lines that are natural and do not contain bismuth (like in Bare Minerals that you see all over TV) or talc (like in drugstore makeup).

1) Everyday Minerals www.everydayminerals.com (*I USE THIS...I have tried the others but this is by far my favorite. I have acne prone skin and mostly oily and this stuff works really well with my face.)

2) L.A. Minerals (I didn%26#039;t really care for this, but it%26#039;s still good. I found the variety is much better with Everyday Minerals)

3) Signature Minerals

DO YOUR RESEARCH.... and even do a search on yahoo answers for %26quot;everyday minerals%26quot; and read what comes up. I honestly don%26#039;t think you would be disappointed.|||Use a mineral foundation, there are lots out there now, they are actually good for your skin. They look very natual as well.|||I use kms mineral essentials. It is an all natural mineral makeup line. My daughter had an issue with bare minerals causing breakouts so we switched. We love that we get the same performance as bare minerals and their customer service department goes above and beyond to help you find the right shade.

You can find them on the web at kmsmineralessentials dot com, and I believe they sell some of their kits on ebay as well.

Good luck to you.|||bare Minerals|||I.D. Bare Minerals, or any other Mineral foundation. Their cosmetics are made from natural minerals that wont affect your skin. I had bad acne when I was younger and I tried all different kinds of foundation, I actually saw this product first on QVC and then it got more popular and they started selling it in stores, I buy mine at Ulta. Mineral foundations are the %26quot;new thing%26quot; now, but they have been around for a while, L%26#039;oreal even makes a cheap mineral foundation, I tried it because the ID Bare Mineral foundation costs $25 and the L%26#039;oreal one only costs $12 but the foundation didnt last through half the day, my Bare Mineral one lasts all day and night..there are two other companies that have them out also, I think the other company is called Sheer Cover or something, they have infomercials on sometimes......bottom line is the Bare Mineral foundation is awesome and wont make you breakout or clog your pores, makes your skin look great and it doesnt feel like you have anything on your face so its worth the money, the cheaper foundations do the same thing but you might have to reapply later in the day. Check out the links below, hope this helps!

P.S.- if you do buy one of the mineral foundations, you dont need to buy all the other %26#039;primer%26#039; stuff to go with it, (its just more money outta your pocket) I just buy the foundation and when I first started I bought one of there foundation brushes. Its worth buying the brush even though they are a lil expensive, its a finer, very soft brush that works a lot better putting on mineral foundation than the ones you can buy at the store.|||Picking the perfect foundation for your skin can be daunting. Here%26#039;s how to go about it while shopping in a department store. Remember, you always want to test before you buy. This is why it%26#039;s best to get your foundations from department stores rather than from the makeup aisle at your local pharmacy or grocery store.

Difficulty: Average

Time Required: 10 minutes

Here%26#039;s How:

1. Consider your skin type. Before you pick the right shade, you need to find out the right formulation for your skin. Are you oily? Dry? Combination?

2. Pick the right formula. If you%26#039;re oily, look for words like %26#039;oil-free%26#039; or %26#039;oil-control%26#039; on the bottle. Got dry skin? Go for moisturizing foundations with %26#039;hydrating%26#039; or %26#039;moisture-rich%26#039; wording on the bottle. For combo skin, determine if you%26#039;re more oily or dry and go from there. Cream-to-powder bases work great for combo skin.

3. Show up to the makeup counter with a clean, fresh face. It%26#039;s OK to wear eye makeup or lipstick, even moisturizer on your face, but you don%26#039;t want to show up already wearing foundation.

4. Select a few colors that seem close to your natural skin tone. Go for the yellow-based foundations, which look most natural on all skin tones. However, if you%26#039;re very fair, try a pink, cooler shade.

Is "Olay Total Effects with Anti-blemish" OK to use if I'm 21, combination acne-prone skin?

Or will it cause breakouts?

My wedding is in 1 month and I want to have great, even-toned skin.

I normally use Neutrogena Body Scrub 2.0 % salicilic acid. The ingrediant used for blemishes in the Olay is 2.0 % salicilic acid as well.

Thanks!|||You won%26#039;t know if it will cause your skin to break out more or not until you try it. When switching any skincare routine though, keep in mind that it%26#039;s very common to see your skin worsen slightly before it gets better.

That said, my best recommendation is Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. It is very basic, always recommended by dermatologists and it works. Follow up with a good, alcohol-free toner and some oil-free moisturizer. (Yes, even acne-prone skin needs a moisturizer.)

And eat tons of salmon, berries, melon and salad greens along with drinking water constantly! This alone will give you a beautiful glow in your skin.

Why is iodine and milk bad for acne prone skin?

?|||It%26#039;s the iodine that is used to clean the cow%26#039;s udders and the milking machinery-- traces of it get into the milk. Therefore, drinking lots of milk ups a persons iodine intake and causes them to break out. Some people are more sensitive to it than others, almost like an allergy.

I used to drink glasses upon glasses of milk every day and had horrible skin. It wasn%26#039;t until my mom read an article in Prevention magazine that featured this odd story that I had ever heard of such a thing. Stopped drinking milk, my skin cleared up within a week. Now I limit myself to only one glass a week as a treat and my skin has been clean and clear as a result ever since.|||Aloe Vera, this common home plant, is an indispensable acne and oily skin remedy. Sleep on a clean pillow case every few days, you can put tea tree oil on it at night, use the mint julep mask t wice a week. That really helps. Also make sure you exfoliate twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells. Make sure your clenser has acne medicine and most importantly drink plenty of water. That will help the most. I used to have problem skin, but now it is smooth and clear. I also put baking soda mixed with water on my face nad take a shower. it helps to exfoliate. That is what makes it baby soft. Good luck.
